Throughout the year we offer classes teaching the basics of food preserving and the basics of cold process soap making. Classes are held in Suffolk and Nassau Counties in Long Island. If you are interested in hosting a class for your office retreat, girl scout troop, or a group of friends, please Contact Us for rates and schedule. We can accommodate both large and small groups.
Our canning class is a comprehensive hands-on experience. If you keep a garden and have too much produce, or love making things from scratch and want to preserve the flavors of the season, this class is for you.
Our goal is for students to feel comfortable preparing their food and learn to preserve safely. All foods prepared in the class are vegan, gluten free, nut free, diary free.
Our soap class is an introduction to cold process soap making. We do work with lye and students must be ages 12+. This is a popular glass among scout troops*. We do offer adult only classes as well.
*The scout classes are modified for a singular 1lb mold with 6 bars that scouts can color, fragrance, and decorate.
Testimonials from our Students
Just wanted to send a quick note and tell you how much we appreciate the incredible job you did teaching our team how to make jam. People were RAVING about it and I'm just so so glad we found you - could not have worked out more perfectly! You showed up on time, you were able to teach a whole class in 45 minutes, everyone got to take home their own jar of jam... holy cow, you are amazing! I hope our paths cross soon again, it would be such a treat:)
My daughter and I participated in one of Virginia’s soap-making classes. It was a great experience! I thought I would be going home with a commercial size bar or soap and was amazed and delighted when the final product was enough to use, gift and share! Virginia is an enthusiastic, patient and fun teacher! The class itself was part science, part creativity! We learned so much about the necessary ingredients, how to handle them safely and the various processes to get to the finished product. The best part for me was selecting colors and scents and creating a totally unique soap product! It was a great experience that I recommended without reservation!
My daughter and I had the opportunity to take a soap making class with Virginia. She is a patient, fun and thorough teacher. We had a great time and my daughter loves her soap. She gave some for gifts at the holidays, and she's had requests for more.I highly recommend Virginia's products and classes. You can't go wrong!
What a great class!! I took it with my husband a few months ago. Since then I've made a few more varieties & even attempted liquid soap. Thanks Virginia for a fun time!
